The Cheltenham Festival, the most prestigious and anticipated event in the jump racing calendar, returns from March 12 to March 15, 2024, with a special edition that marks the centenary of the Gold Cup, the ultimate prize in the sport.
The Cheltenham Festival, which attracts over 250,000 spectators and millions of viewers worldwide, will feature four days of thrilling action, with 28 races and 14 Grade 1 contests, showcasing the best horses, jockeys, trainers and owners in the industry. The highlight of the week will be the Gold Cup, the most coveted trophy in jump racing, which will be contested on Friday, March 15, by the elite of the sport.
The Gold Cup, which was first run in 1924, has a rich and glorious history, with legendary winners such as Golden Miller, Arkle, Best Mate, Kauto Star and Al Boum Photo. The 2024 edition will be a special occasion, as the race celebrates its 100th anniversary, and the winner will receive a record prize of £1 million, as well as a place in the history books.
The Cheltenham Festival will also offer a variety of entertainment, including live music, shopping, food and drink, and the famous Cheltenham roar, the deafening cheer that greets the start of the first race of the week.
