The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, has issued warnings and fines to four online betting companies for allowing their customers to bet on sport events where the majority of the participants where under the age of 18 (Swedish Gambling Law, chapter 8, article 2). The amount of fines for all four operators totals to around 20 million SEK which equals to around £1,703,896/€1,865,636 million.
The events included Football and Volleyball matches with U17, U18 and U19 teams that were played in March to May of 2019. The companies that received the warnings and fines are Snabbare Limited, Legolas Invest Ltd, Hajper Limited and ComeOn Sweden Limited. All four companies has stated that the reason for offering odds on the said events was due to a breach of a third-party odds provider.
In July earlier this year, eight online betting companies was fined more than a total of 41 million SEK for breaching the same law.
